Pournami Pooja 2: Rasa - 12/12/2008.

Every month on the full moon, our Hindu friends performed a special prayer to seek divine protection for all ISA detainees. This second event was held on 12/12/2008 at Pekan Rasa. Prior to this event, the very 1st pournami pooja prayer were performed in Batang Kali but was told that the authorities had interfered and trying to prevent the devotees from performing this prayer. How does this prayer comes about that alerted the authorities to interfere into the religious affairs of the local communities.

Shin was told that this prayer were the result of the spontanous response from the community to hold prayer to the then Hindraf Five arrested under the ISA on 13th December 2007. The community all over the country then performed prayers for them on a weekly basis at their local temples of 30 devotees the most. Later these prayer were performed on a monthly basis, and were not organised. The dovout devotees then decided to syncronised and organised the event on a larger scale and decided to have this special prayer on the fullmoon of every month. Why on a fullmoon? What is significant of Pournami Pooja on a fullmoon. Why the authorities were so concerned about that they deployed SB to monitor their activities.

Shin research found that Pournami is an auspicious day in Hinduism. Pournami is the full moon day and many important rituals and festivals takes place on full moon day. Pooja energize the deity being worshipped. This energy can be tapped in order to materialise one's desires. Hence the pournami pooja were performed to seek divine intervention of the communities desires to the release of their leaders detained under the draconian ISA.

The 1st Pournami Pooja planned on 12/11/2008 at Batang Kali Temple proceeded despite there's attempts by the authorities to prevent this from taking place. The devout devotees who organised this prayer were asked to stop this prayer else risk arrest. This is a violation to the freedom to practice religion as enshrine in our Consitution. The prayer preceeded without any untoward incident and their rituals were monitor by a few SBs.

As news of this intimidation reaches Haris. A group of Anak Bangsa Malaysia decided to attend their 2nd Pournami Pooja in Rasa on 12/12/2008 to give solidarity to our fellow Malaysian. But who are these people on the top? The CPO of Selangor, the IGP, the Deputy Home Minister or The Home Minister is everyone guess.

Another Temple priest/elder lead in prayer followed by all devotees. After the prayer those who wished to be blessed by the temple priest all queued up to be blessed one by one & were offer a coconut & banana to take home with.


Refreshments were served. Thereafter Velan of Klang gave a speech follows by Haris. Haris highlighted in Kamunting consist of not as indian, chinese and malay detainees BUT as malaysian detainees. Highlighted that we are all Anak Bangsa Malaysia and shall not championing for the cause of one race only but as one bangsa Malaysia.
