KT By-election - A Replica Of Permatang Pauh?

THIS IS MY COUNTRY.
I WAS BORN IN MALAYSIA AND THE JALUR GEMILANG IS MY PRIDE.
THE CONSTITUTIONS GUARANTEE MY WELL-BEING.
I LOVE MY COUNTRY BECAUSE I AM A MALAYSIAN!

After the 12th.General Election, the first by-election saw Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had a resounding victory over Barisan Nasional in Permatang Pauh.

The whole country is again caught up with suspense of the coming by-election, and this time is in the Malay heartland of Kuala Terenggannu.

The three candidates are:

Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, from Barisan Nasional and a former deputy home minister.
Mohd.Abdul Wahid Endut, a PAS candidate.
Azharudin Mamat @ Adam, am independent candidate.

As of tonight and the nights to come, all the ceremahs will be the yardstick to gauge who will be the people’s choice. Like what was in Permatang Pauh, the mammoth crowd at each ceremah gave a clear indication of what the result would be come the votes counting day.

The crowd at nomination day showed the sentiments of the people in Kuala Terenggannu. They want a change! The initial insinuation was to depend on the Chinese voters to sway the choice to the Barisan Nasional candidate, but it looks like the Chinese voters will give a bigger margin of winning to PAS.

The lies that are spinning by the local mainstream media about Hudud Law when PAS comes in power are blatant. To counter such lies and other inaccurate reporting, the advent of bloggers totake the role to give the correct information for the people to decide has become the god-sent media tool.

PAS Supporters’ Club chairperson Hu Pang Chaw.

Hudud Law

Hudud law is a non-issue in the by-election. The fear of this law among the Chinese is understandable because the national issue created by BN is to instill fear, but the Chinese in Kelantan and Terengganu understand Islam better because hudud only applies to Muslims. The non-Malays in Terengganu should vote PAS for a stronger opposition and for the betterment of the state.

There are 80,229 registered voters for this by-election to be held on Jan 17, and the outcome as anticipated to be a replica of the Permatang Pauh by-election.

Religion in Malaysia.

Religious bigots are attempting to denude the rights of one’s religion as enshrined in our constitutions, and they could go scot-free of seditions and intimidations. For too long, the Barisan controlled media have promulgated the intolerance of religion to PAS.

In fact, it is UMNO to be blamed! The blatant demolition of Indian temples, the insensitive objection to the Cross of Mission Schools and a decree was issued to halt the erection of the Sea Goddess statue in Sabah but, in Kelantan, the statue of Buddha stands freely under PAS government. So, what is it so bad about PAS and what is it so good about UMNO when it comes to religion?

Our fervent hope as Malaysians is to see the country is run with fairness and justice. Venality must be stopped, and it should start from the Barisan government to prove that it is the government of the people. It is imperative for the government to look beyond colours, creeds and religions to sanctify true democracy.

It is a fact that Malaysia is blessed with its natural resources and wealth, but without parsimonious management, the country is heading for an economic disaster. Malaysians are actually having their freedom eroded gradually and their freedom is a freedom in fetters.
