We need to understand the meaning of choice in order to know what decision to make over the choice.
The euphoria has settled over the KT by-election and the absolute choice of the people in K.Terengganu was clearly reflected on the decisive win by PAS on Saturday.
The opposition’s 2,631 was not a simple majority by taking into accounts the postal votes in favour of Barisan. This is proven that Barisan Nasional does not appear to have the support of the majority of Malaysians.
Umno leaders appear to be interested in themselves and what they can reap from the nation’s wealth, rather than looking into the serious flaws in governance and credibility. The clear-headed Malays swing away from BN particularly among the younger Malays is evident.
The impact on the Opposition’s victory was PAS less extremist approach that had reached out to more urbanite Malays and non-Malays. The Chinese and Indian supporters wavering PAS’s flags have become a common sight prompting the Malays to ask for DAP’s flags to hop on the bandwagon of solidarity. This brought a lump in the throat to experience the breakthrough of the divide which was the provoking fear in the past.
The Malay voters were angry with Barisan’s money politics knowing that the Chinese voters received an “ang pow” and cash of RM300 each to vote for Barisan. A Chinese passer-by kept shaking his head in disbelief over what was in his hands. RM600 a person is definitely vote-buying what else! The smart Chinese voters will keep the take and “Pankoh Pah” just as sweet as a carton of mandarin orange they were given to take home.
A “Dear John” letter is sent, signed and delivered to Barisan Nasional in K.Terengganu and let us wait for the next by-election. Hoping it will be soonest! The pragmatic way to erase avarice is to get rid the people who wail the power so that the tax payers will not be taken for FOOLS.
