Nearest Is Dearest – Estrelita Soliano Grosse

I have met many women of worth, and I want to continue to meet them because they leave the deepest impression upon me. They have the gifted sense of humour and blessed with wisdom, and most of all, they are sure of themselves.

The candlelight vigil has brought me a new horizon to look at things and people at a broader perspective and to gather friendship that I have not dreamt of. The Anak Bangsa Malaysia is a wonderful connotation to “race” which I find it extremely comfortable to mingle with the crowd that shares the similar feeling.

To write about women, I have a fond memory of my mother. When a woman is aware of her worth and she is confident about whom she is then something wonderful occurs - she rejoices in her femininity and does not wallow in self-pity.

A woman of worth knows that she would not succumb to despondency, but by knowing where to look to find her authentic self which is the key to overcome all the obstacles that once thought impossible.

But because she knows her own worth, she is able to live a full, splendid life with many friends to surround her or come in contact with in the most incredible ways. Let me share with you this special lady whom will be at the vigil, comes rain or shine.

Twelve vigils have passed by and I have never missed this particular lady who has religiously attended every vigil without failed. Other men and ladies are the regulars too, but Lita stands out because she is just as busy as I am with a camera of her own. We bumped into each other so often that at certain times we became transparent to each other. From a nodding acquaintance to comradeship is worth more than a thousand words despite the short duration at each vigil to spin a yarn.

We exchanged smiles to acknowledge our presence and followed by a few “Hi”. Soon, we exchanged a few words and that was how I got to know her lucky man, Stephen. Lita is what she is fondly called is actually Estrelita Soliano Grosse. She possesses the quality of a woman and there is no doubt about it!

Those who know her will acknowledge that she is one special lady who will spend a fair amount of time with those around her and enjoy doing it. We all have the honour of meeting you and Stephen in the many vigils and more to come. Let us all feel good and blessed in all the vigils!
The candlelight vigil is a congregation of binding ourselves (intellectually or emotionally) to a worthy course that we believe in.
